What if the Internet goes down at my restaurant?
Posted by savemytable in food, restaurants on September 8, 2010
One question we get asked here at Save My Table a lot is:
what if the Internet goes down at my restaurant?
It’s something we’ve put a lot of thought into, because even the best broadband providers have a certain amount of downtime.
If you’re connection to the Internet goes down while you are running the application, your current wait list, table statuses, and upcoming reservations won’t disappear – they will remain on the screen for viewing. Save My Table will scan continuously for a re-connection, and when it detects it, the application will continue full operation seamlessly.
So, if your Internet goes out every now and then, there’s no need to worry – you won’t lose access to your most critical information.
If you haven’t already done so, check out Save My Table restaurant software for on-line reservations and wait list management.
How easy to use is your dining room management software?
Posted by savemytable in Uncategorized on September 2, 2010
There are few places in business that get quite as hectic as a lunch or dinner rush restaurant host stand.
-
The siege of hungry patrons clamoring for a table would make an intriguing sight for visitors unfamiliar with the concept.
Which is why, at Save My Table, we’re always striving to make our restaurant dining room management software as easy to use as possible.
We’re excited to introduce our latest new feature: a fully drag-and-drop enabled host view surface. What does this mean? It means you can drag from one table to another to move a party between tables. It means you can drag from the wait list to a table to assign a wait list party to a table. It also means you can drag from the upcoming reservations list to a table when the party arrives to assign the reservation to a table.
Of course, all the poweful joining of tables functionality is still there, we’re just adding this new feature to simplify tasks that happen constantly at your restaurant.

Capture More Business at Your Restaurant By Taking On-Line Reservations
Posted by savemytable in Uncategorized on August 31, 2010
Taking on-line reservations at your restaurant is like having a live reservation-taker manning the phones 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Visitors to your restaurant’s website will come when your restaurant is closed. By capturing that party at the point of browsing, you increase the chance of getting that business, rather than just hoping they wait and call you the following day.
But, on-line reservations can be expensive. Firstly, the system itself can cost hundred of dollars a month. Then, most people want to charge you for taking reservations – even via your own website!
Save My Table provides their easy-to-add drop-in reservation widget to all our restaurant accounts, and we never charge per-reservation. It’s all included in our low subscriptions.
Go to our website to learn more about accepting on-line reservations at your restaurant, and get started today!

How do we calculate wait times?
Posted by savemytable in Uncategorized on March 25, 2010
Your restaurant’s host staff enter all walk-ins and reservations into Save My Table as they come in. (Reservations your customers make via the web will appear automatically.)
As your host staff seat guests, and mark tables as cleared as those guests leave, Save My Table is constantly learning how long your guests take to eat. It takes account of all kinds of factors, like the time of day, the day of the week, the size of the party, the server who’s working their section, and the area their sat at.
So, the next time a party comes in, Save My Table looks at current situations (how many people are sat, who’s waiting for a table already, which servers are working which sections, etc), and determines how long that party will wait.
This process not only happens when the hostess adds the party, but also for the entire time they’re on the wait list. It keeps track of real-time statistics, and keeps the estimated wait times accurate.
So, the more information that Save My Table has – i.e. the longer you use the system, the more accurate it will be.
We think your guests will love getting accurate wait times. We also think they’ll love being free to roam anywhere they chose while they do wait, thanks to our SMS text message and voice call paging.
Give us a try, and we think you’ll love Save My Table. Learn more at www.savemytable.com, and start empowering your restaurant today!

Chicagoland

Hi All,
Just returned from a tour of Chicago restaurants. Best in town? Well, it’s a toss up for me between RJ Grunt’s in Lincoln Park (right next to the best Zoo in America!), and Carmine’s Italian on Rush and State.
I’m currently leaning towards Carmine’s – their two cavatelli (not gnocchi!) dishes are out of this world.

The most delicious burger?
Posted by savemytable in Uncategorized on February 17, 2010
Went out with a friend of mine last night, and stopped by Burger King for the first time in years. Had a whopper… delicious!
Is it the best fast food burger? Based on my recent experience it is. I am a big fan of In & Out’s burgers “animal style”, but I think the Whopper edges it out.
